The next day everyone slept in. We all went to see Ice Age III and then back to Grandma's for lunch and swimming. Julia and Alexis played with their American Girl dolls. And did some dressing up themselves. Julia is wearing Brian's mom's wedding dress here.

Austin loves playing with Grandma's Lincoln Logs! He built all kinds of towers and forts and houses while we were there. Then he'd knock them over with the bulldozer and start building all over again. I sat Caroline on the ground to watch everyone who was in the pool. That only lasted so long before she turned herself around, facing the other way. I thought she looked like a jailbird here!

Lauren missed out on some of the swimming because she had to have naps. But she still spent plenty of time in the pool. She felt safest hanging out on this horse.

Mr. Crocodile was a hit! He got lots of use. All the kids thought Uncle Chris was one of them, I think, as they were all playing together.

They couldn't stay on that crocodile forever...! Surely you saw this coming:

We all went swimming Friday and Saturday nights. Brian's mom had put the pool heater on so it was just the right temperature. They didn't need it swimming during the day as the air was so hot as it was, in the 90s.

Saturday morning, the 4th, Holly and I went shopping at Ontario Mills, a huge outlet mall. I had a $10 Children's Place certificate and she had a coupon for Old Navy, so off we went for a couple hours. Brian was glad he didn't have to come along. He stayed home and played Wii bowling with the kids. More swimming in the afternoon. Brian BBQed hamburgers for dinner, and everyone else helped get all the other food outside. We ate on the patio, which was really nice, as it had cooled down some, so the weather was pleasant.
At bath time Brian discovered Lauren had a big, maybe 2" diameter, bruise? on her arm. I thought it looked like a big bug bite, like when I get a spider bite, as it had a puffy white center. Later, we both wondered if it was maybe a burn, and Joy (who is an RN) thought that it probably was. The crazy thing is, none of us know how it happened, not even Lauren! She never yelled about being hurt. Joy applied some burn ointment and bandaged it. Joy also gave us some ointment to take home, so I've been changing the bandage here. We do think it's looking a little better...

Sunday morning we went to church with Brian's mom. We went back to her house for lunch; Chris BBQed chicken this time. Julia, Alexis, and Austin were sitting at the formal dining room table for meals, just the three of them. It was so quiet at Sunday lunch. No laughing, giggling, talking at all coming from that room! We think they were all exhausted from all that swimming!! But, they just can't get enough. :D Brian and the big kids swam for a little while while I stayed with Caroline and talked to Joy inside. We left a little after four, stopping only for dinner at Rusty's Pizza in Santa Barbara. Our kids were so tired, that they slept in till nine (or so) yesterday. Austin finally rolled out of bed just before breakfast, which seemed to have turned in to brunch, as it wasn't ready till almost ten. ;)

When it got dark, Brian set off fireworks. The kids did a few sparklers. At nine we all went up to the master bedroom balcony to watch a fireworks show being put on at a nearby park. We could see them really well, probably just as well, if not better, than we would be able to driving to that park. And we didn't have to deal with traffic and parking and crowds. Nice! When the show was finished we all went back downstairs and back into the pool! Brian did the rest of the fireworks while we all watched--floating, swimming, diving, jumping, hanging out in the hot tub....
