"Hmmm....I wonder what's in those stockings?!" Earlier that week Lauren told me, "First we open the stockings. There's little prizes in there..."

Cooperative kids! They wanted to get on to the presents!

Kids with their stockings

Annual family picture in front of the tree. And our Advent wreath, every candle lit, that night. Brian reads a short devotion when we light each candle, and asks the kids some questions. They love it! They also love eating supper by candlelight!

I got a kick out of Julia's organized stacks of stocking gifts. Food/candy pile, and a non-edible pile. Totally something Brian or I would do! That's the oldest child for you. ;)

Brian and I got some new clothes (among other things).

Austin and Lauren were eager to help anyone open their gifts. Caroline didn't know what to make of the whole gift-opening process. She wanted to open her new toys right away. Was fascinated with the big kids' stuff. Liked carrying around bags and bows, putting things in and out of boxes.

Julia got another American Girl doll! Sooo exciting! This sweet hug (below) was right after Austin opened his gift from her, a Perler bead set she'd bought at the Awana store. He also gave his sisters gifts he'd bought at his Awana store: a ring for Julia, bear for Caroline, and a heart slinky for Lauren. And he made Lauren a "Fun Book" with pages he'd made. There was a maze, word find, coloring pictures, etc. All which he'd created himself! Julia gave Lauren some crafty stuff.

Some tea was drunk. :D

Austin got a new scooter that makes sparks. Cool!

Lauren was so excited to get her first Barbie!

She loved all the clothes I made. So did Julia. :) And Lauren shares. Julia likes that, too.

Austin had asked for blocks and pipes. He likes to build and dig in the backyard and was thrilled with this gift! Brian cut all the wood into pieces for him.

During the season we listened to a lot of Christmas music on the Christmas music channel Dish provides, on TV. Kind of funny, but they played such nice music! We liked it better than most of what was on the radio! So that is what that blue screen-saver thing is behind the kids. And the kids, they are doing what? Bugling?

Since it was just us for Christmas, I'd told everyone a week or so ahead of time, that we could choose whatever we wanted for Christmas dinner. We had ham, fresh green beans, cheesy potatoes, strawberry pretzel salad, sparkling grape-apple cider, and pumpkin pie for dessert. I made a cinnamon swirl yeast coffee cake for breakfast, and Brian cooked bacon and eggs. It was good food. :) And a good day together.
