The Day-to-Day

Snack time after school: Very, very, very important. They all need a snack to perk up after their busy day. Usually Austin brings home part of his lunch. He says he doesn't have enough time to eat it all at lunch at school. I don't know--they don't get a long time to eat. But I also know he likes to get outside and play at recess as soon as he can. And he doesn't love eating his not-favorite foods. Usually grapes. So he eats whatever's left at home.

Julia had peanut butter Oreo Cakesters today. A friend gave them to her. I am mean mom and *rarely* buy those snacks expensive individually packaged junk food. Julia told me about them just seconds after she got done telling me about how her friend Megan has been hanging around a different girl who's "kind of naughty". Why is she naughty? That other girl shares her food at lunch. And sharing's not allowed! Ha ha

The egg carton's sitting by Austin's spot because it's his job to put the recyclables in their bin. School papers Julia set on the counter. Lauren's sweater hanging over the last bar stool. Lauren's showing me her pretzel fish cracker: "Jonah was in this one!" Because the pretzel fish was hollow inside. Guess that's the spot where Jonah had been!


Caroline is pulling up and standing all the time these days. She walks around furniture and lets go for a few seconds, but no walking on her own just yet. I feel like I'm constantly picking up Tupperware, as she's into those drawers all. the. time. ! Of course she's not content just to look. It's much more fun to haul out pieces. Dump them on the floor, fling them over her shoulder, pretend she's drinking out of the little midgie containers... She also leaves books along her path--see the random books laying on the floor in these pictures? On another note, how cute are her curls?! I just love them! Love, love, love that curly little fluff!


Our very own little Cubbie bear! Sporting the mask she made Tuesday night. Caroline gets the biggest smile seeing the bear walking around the house. :)


Yesterday we had the Dish Network technician out to hook us up to satellite TV. We've had no cable or anything since we've been married. Just made do with our local channels--two!! We only got Fox and CBS until now (plus a couple Spanish channels, but they don't count ;) ). At our old house we got CBS well, and ABC and NBC fuzzy, but not here. We've gone back and forth the last 2-3 years--get cable/satellite or not...usually about the time baseball season begins; or World Series time; or Super Bowl time. Brian really wanted to watch his Dodgers! LOL So we got hooked up just in time for him to see them play in their first play-off game.

About 7:40 last night one of our next-door neighbors left a message on our answering machine about "...that monstrosity of a satellite dish..." and how "...that was a he__ of a place to put it..." Oh boy. Brian was gone at work of course all day, and then at a greenhouse grower meeting tonight, not even home till after 7. Well, a little before 8, we were all busy, and no one answered the phone, and the same neighbor left another message about how we are clearly in violation of the HOA rules.

The dish isn't supposed to be visible from the street. But, that's extremely hard with how small the lots are, and how close together they are. Not to mention there are 3 dishes on other houses in our same HOA that we can see from our living room window, let alone the street! I'm not sure what's going to happen now. Brian's the president of the HOA. He said maybe he'd be recused from his position and the vice president would have to take over. ;) {Which Brian wouldn't mind being done being president for awhile.} He's going to talk to the neighbor probably this weekend, though.
