Jennifer said legally Lauren could come until her exit IEP meeting, which was May 14. Jennifer also said they almost never see kids pick up their sounds in two months, that she could tell we practiced at home. Which we did, pretty regularly. Lauren liked doing her speech homework! We're still supposed to be practicing, just so she'll speak that much clearer.
In speech class Jennifer primarily worked of "F" and "V" sounds with Lauren. Now Lauren can say them in all parts of words: beginning, middle, end. Sometimes she slips if she talks super fast. Also, Lauren has picked up her "L's", somehow on her own. ?? So Jennifer encouraged that, and worked with Lauren on L blends, like "bl", "pl", etc. Lauren still makes some sounds incorrectly, but they are ok for her age. She also is making more age-typical mispronuciations, where at her initial evaluation, some of the ways Lauren was saying sounds wrong were not even "normal" mispronunciations. It's really interesting, learning about speech, I think.
On the last day of class, Lauren brought Jennifer a pink tulip plant with a big magenta bow, Lauren had picked out at the store. She was so pleased when Jennifer asked her, "Did you know pink was my favortie color?" Lauren had the biggest smile. And was so pleased Jennifer liked her gift. Here is Lauren, with Jennifer:
The kids played a game about animal stew, hence the pot and spoon. There are stuffed animals inside. I overheard them talking about a fox, crocodile, etc. :) Fun stuff.
Sometimes Caroline would happen to overhear the lessons, and when Jennifer would ask a kid in the class something like, "Can you say 'croc'?", Caroline would pipe up, "Croc!" One time the kids had to listen to recorded sounds: loud/quiet, and tell what the sounds were. Jennifer would ask, "What do you hear?" And Caroline would answer, on the other side of the dividing screen, "Aiwpane!" or "Bus!" The other parents would crack up. It was pretty funny. Lauren got a kick out of it too, her baby sister thinking she was part of the speech class.

A couple weeks ago, Lauren was sitting on the potty, and told me, "Grown ups have to use lots of toilet paper because they have big bottoms! And big kids like Julia have to use a lot, too."
When we were leaving church last night after the Children's Ministry workers appreciation dinner, Lauren was bursting with excitement, jumping up and down, and dancing to the car. She couldn't get the words out fast enough and told me, "I have so much to tell you! As much as twelve elephants! It will take a DAY!"
Lauren also decided she was going to imagine some "imagination friends", after we read some Charlie and Lola books, and Lauren learned of Lola's imaginary friend, Soren Lorensen. She also likes those books because the author has her same name. :) I told Lauren that Julia had lots of imaginary friends when she was her age (which she did! And elaborate stories told about them every day!).
So now Lauren has imagination friends, Samantha, Sabecca, Anna and, Katie. She says she likes Sabecca the best. She's been talking about playing school with them, and today was dancing in the middle of all four of them. :D Putting on a show in my bedroom. Almost every day, Lauren and Caroline push the buttons on my clock radio and turn the volume up as high as it will go. It's crazy! Today they were blasting country music, dancing to Toby Keith (I Ain't as Good as I Once Was). Funny! Here's the goofball with her equally goofy sister:
