Packed Up and Ready to Go

It's been almost a month (!!!) since I last posted. We went on vacation for two weeks which has a lot to do with it! We were back home Tuesday night, Aug. 18, then school started the 20th. Soccer also started, and Awana tonight. I have tons to post!

Time to get on the road [already--ahem--] Brian got off early from work, 1:30, but we didn't leave the house till 4. All those last-minute things to do take time!

We spent our first night on the road in Vacaville. The next day we went to the CA Railroad Museum in Sacramento. It was very interesting, and we could have stayed longer, but had to keep driving north.

We couldn't find a park to have our picnic at in downtown Sacramento, so decided to get on the road and eat lunch at the nearest rest area. Wouldn't you know, we got to that rest area and they'd just closed it !! We saw cars parking, but no such luck for us. We didn't want to plow through the orange cones, so continued on to the little nowheresville town of Williams. We found this quaint city park to eat lunch at. Quaint is putting it nicely--check out the picnic table we ate at! At least we could all eat, the kids could play for a few minutes, and they had bathrooms.

We would never have four kids sleep in one bed! You saw the Pack-n-Play packed in the back of the van, didn't you? Now, three kids in the bed is a different story. They had to do this twice on this trip. The other two nights we spent in hotels, there were small couches for Lauren to sleep on. In fact, one was a pull-out, and the big kids discussed who got to sleep there. New and different is best, you know. Julia ended up getting the extra queen bed all to herself that night.

Somewhere in WA. The two in the middle look bored silly--baby's playing with her shoe, Julia's staring at the TV. The two in the back are zonked out. We know how to keep 'em entertained! Ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!

We arrived at my mom and dad's house about 8:30 pm, I think. And ate a late, late dinner with them. My dad BBQed hamburgers. We were all glad to be there and done with our 20 hours of driving (not including stops!)!
